PORTLAND – An expanded field for this year’s Peoples Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race didn’t stop runners from registering in record time.

The field, upped to 5,000 to mark the race’s fifth anniversary, is filled up for Maine’s most popular race, set for Aug. 3 in Cape Elizabeth. The race goes off at Crescent Beach on Route 77 in Cape Elizabeth and ends 6.2 miles later at Portland Head Light at Fort Williams Park.

The race is still in need of volunteers. To help, fill out a volunteer form by going online to www.beach2beacon.org or contact coordinator Maya Cohen at 207-838-8816, or stop by a Peoples Heritage Bank branch statewide for an application form.
