Down with Interleague
I’m a disgruntled baseball fan. The World Series used to be the ultimate match between the best American League team and the best of the National League.
No More!
Interleague play has robbed the World Series of its only reason for existence. Fall now means playoffs, playoffs, playoffs. The series is just another ditto! No matter who wins, we’ve already seen ’em play!
We have had Interleague play thrown at us all month. I have yet to talk to any baseball fan who likes the idea. Down with Interleague!

Red card for ABC-7
We would like to let the local ABC-7 station (WVII-TV of Bangor) know how disappointed we were about their decision not to show the World Cup soccer final live on Sunday morning. The World Cup final is held once every four years, and is the world’s most important sporting event.
It is watched live by more people around the globe than any other sporting event. Virtually every other ABC affiliate around the country carried the final game live at 7 a.m. Sunday morning.
Our Bangor affiliate chose instead to air an infomercial on a calcium supplement. For those of us who gathered together to watch the early-round games over the last month on ESPN, anticipation of the final game was high. We hope ABC-7 will try to develop a better sense of the local public’s interest and some perspective of the importance of a game like the World Cup final in the future.
