BLUE HILL – Volunteers are gearing up again for the annual WERU Full Circle Summer Fair, which is scheduled for Sunday, July 28, with a special musical concert-jam-community dance Saturday, July 27, rain or shine, at the Blue Hill Fairgrounds in Blue Hill.

WERU-FM, located in East Orland, annually hosts the popular fair, which presents live entertainment, craft artists and business vendors from across the state, unusual foods, and children’s entertainment.

The fair has returned to the Blue Hill Fairgrounds, after spending five years at the Union Fairgrounds. Radio station staff say the location of the station’s primary transmitter, the availability of summer visitors and convenient access are three of the things that influenced the return to Blue Hill.

A steering committee (Susan Connery, Karen Frangoulis, Jimmy Freeman, Tom Kemp, Denis Howard) has been working since early this year to help organize the fair. There is also a larger fair planning committee that has been meeting at least once monthly.

The station is seeking volunteers for the preparation, setup and operation of the fair. Volunteers who work receive free admission to the fair, plus a WERU Fair T-shirt. The fair is sponsored by WERU-FM in East Orland, a community radio station serving midcoast and inland Maine.

The Full Circle Summer Fair draws about 5,000 people each year.

Volunteer positions include: Fair setup and breakdown, carpentry, the children’s area, recycling, assisting with the WERU food booth and selling raffle tickets.

Organizers are also inviting local artisans to be part of the vendors area at the fair. This event is open for vendors from 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 27, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, at the Blue Hill Fairgrounds.
