Hampden beats Millinocket 13-5 Bangor teams, Old Town post wins

MILLINOCKET – Josh Tardiff tripled, doubled and drove in three runs to help Hampden beat Millinocket 13-5 in a Little League baseball All-Star game for ages 11-12 Wednesday.

Nolan Turner chipped in with a two-run double and single for the winners and Harvey Shue added three singles. Bryan Lawson singled twice.

Cory Barnett cranked a two-run home run to lead Millinocket. Tommy Jones added an RBI triple and Jared Manzo doubled.

Bangor East 5, Lincoln 4

At Bangor East, Chad Kelly launched a two-run triple and scored on an errant throw, escaping a rundown between home and third in the process, as Bangor East triumphed.

Chris Ingraham fired three innings of one-hit, shutout ball to earn the win. Johnny Cox contributed two singles.

Derek Libby smashed a two-run homer plus a triple for Lincoln. Scott Andrews cracked a triple, and Brady Mose singled twice.

Old Town 17, Orono-Veazie 5

At Orono, Dana Leland and Evan Paradis combined to fire a two-hitter as Old Town rolled.

Leland contributed a double and two singles for the winners. Adam Fournier cranked a grand slam, which ended the game in the fifth due to the mercy rule. He also had a double. Gary Grenier had a double and two singles. Matt Jones roped a pair of triples. Tyler Honey recorded a triple and a single, and Jeff Boucher added a triple.

Max Winter and Max McElwain singled for Orono-Veazie’s lone hits.

Bangor West 8, Holbrook 7

At Holden, Ian Edwards’ two-run single keyed a four-run fifth inning for Bangor West as they came from behind to edge Holbrook in District 3 play.

Edwards finished with three singles and three runs batted in. Ryan Larochelle singled twice, Shane Walton drove in two runs with a double and Adam Sproul doubled and had an RBI for Bangor West.

Greg Higgins doubled twice and drove in four runs, Tommy Jackson had a pair of singles and Nick Smith had a double and an RBI for Holbrook.

Baseball, Senior League

Bucksport 5, Coastal 3 (8 inn.)

At Bucksport, John Harvey slammed a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth as Bucksport won its second game of the day in District 1 Senior League action.

Bucksport knocked off Sunrise of Milbridge earlier, 6-1, with Wade Hopkins hurling a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts.

Nye Gifford roped a two-run single to knot the game up in the seventh for the winners in the second game. Brian Clapper contributed two singles.

Harrison Hines had three singles for Coastal of Blue Hill.
