FORT KENT – Dr. Khalid Husain will join Northern Maine Medical Center’s staff and will begin seeing patients July 18.

Husain, a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, comes to the area from Maryland, where he had a general surgery practice. Husain also founded Breton Medical Group, a 35,000-patient multi-specialty practice and BretonMed SuperCare, the region’s first seven-day per week, extended hours urgent care center.

Husain completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., and was chief resident in his last year there.

After graduation, he was a clinical instructor for surgery at George Washington University and later was a member of the associate faculty program at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
