Waves rock the boat

The article (BDN, June 28) about the man suing the whale watch company in Bar Harbor for the damages sustained in his fall is absolutely frivolous.

One normally assumes safety directions when riding aboard a vessel in the Gulf of Maine. This is ocean water. There are waves out there. The operator of the vessel is exercising due care. You cannot be responsible for every wave that rocks the boat.

For every series of 1,000 waves, there is at least one wave that is larger than the average, and that is the odd risk assumed when at sea.
