Holbrook beats Hampden 14-4 Lincoln defeats Orono-Veazie

BANGOR – Hunter Umphrey’s bases-loaded triple in the top of the fourth helped Holbrook gain a 14-4 Little League All-Star victory over Hampden in the ages 13-14 division Friday night at Mansfield Stadium.

Hunter finished with a triple and a double for six RBIs. Chris Smith and Ricky Adams each added a pair of singles while Adams knocked in a run. Shawn Gray drove in two runs with a pair of singles. He also struck out eight batters in seven innings.

Ian Lee led Hampden with three doubles and a single with two RBIs. Jon Ireland got on base with a pair of singles for Hampden.

Lincoln 15, Orono-Veazie 1

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Jacob Smith allowed only two hits while striking out eight in seven innings for Lincoln.

Smith also got on base with a triple during Lincoln’s five-run fourth inning and singled twice. He finished with four RBIs. Steve Andrews singled, doubled and drove in three runs for Lincoln and Jason Murchison singled three times and scored two runs.

Tony Raymond led Orono-Veazie with a single scored a run. Mike Scott also singled.

At Taylor Field in Bangor, Kyle Savage allowed only one hit in five innings while striking out 12 to help Bangor West advance.

Cody McInnis and Travis Wood each singled twice for the winners. Shane Hoss singled for Orono-Veazie.

At Taylor Field in Bangor, Spencer Ranger struck out 11 through five innings as Hampden advanced in the winners bracket.

Greg O’Donnell was perfect from the plate with four singles for Hampden and Matt Lindemann had a double, two singles and two RBIs. Nate Clark added a run-scoring double and brought in another run with a fielder’s choice. Ryan Snow and Nick Pease each got on base with a pair of singles.

Eric Stevens led Orrington with a two-run single in the third inning. Joey Thompson and Jacob O’Donnell each singled.

Bangor East 13, Old Town 4

At Taylor Field in Bangor, Nate Lewis’ bases-loaded triple in the top of the second inning broke open the game as Bangor East secured a victory.

Bud Angst brought in a run with as triple of his own for Bangor East. He also singled. Ryan King hit a double and a pair of singles and Devon Lyshon plated two runs with a double in the fourth inning. Josh Turcotte struck out five through five innings for the win.

Chris Gilman paced Old Town offense with a pair of doubles. Lonnie Hackett brought in the only earned run of the game for Old Town with a single.

At Taylor Field in Bangor, Ray Bessette no-hit Millinocket for 5 2/3 innings to give Holbrook the win. He struck out five. Cameron Grant reached Bessette for a two-run single, but Bessette struck out the next batter to secure the win. He struck out five in the game.

Brandon Carney started the scoring for Holbrook in the bottom of the first with a two-run double. Devon Cyr singled twice and scored once in the win.

At Bucksport, Ivan Hodgdon doubled, stole third and scampered home on a passed ball in the bottom of the sixth to provide the winning margin.

Larry Hubbard added three singles and three RBIs for Acadian of Mount Desert Island while Gary Gonzales singled twice.

David Hellum cracked two doubles and a single for Downeast of Ellsworth while Brian Folmer and Chad Curtis added a single and a double apiece. Steve Cote tripled and Larry Russell doubled.

At Bucksport, Mike Little smacked a double and a triple and Mike Lenfestey added an RBI single for Machias, which scored 13 runs on only three hits.

Jeremy Carr doubled and David Troiani singled in a run for Calais.

Sunrise 22, Coastal 19

At Bucksport, Mike Crowley drilled a double and three singles and knocked in four runs and Brandon Tenney struck out 13 in the complete-game effort for Sunrise of Steuben.

Cameron Tucker tripled, singled and drove in four more for Sunrise while Tommy Bell singled and doubled. Tenney and Matt Manning each tripled.

Andrew Babbit singled twice and drove in two runs for Coastal of Blue Hill. Taylor Corriveau doubled and singled.

At Glenburn, Jillian Tuell’s two-run single to right field in the top of the sixth proved to be the game- winning run for Orono-Veazie.

Alison Sherman added an RBI double and Chloe Paul singled twice for Orono-Veazie. Denali Graham pitched the complete game for the win while striking out six.

Lincoln’s four-run sixth inning, led by Brooke Kimball and Amanda Gulesian’s RBI singles, was not enough to overcome Orono-Veazie’s five-run lead. Kimball and Gulesian each finished with two singles and an RBI. Brooke Hanscom had two RBI singles for Lincoln. Jessie Fortin pitched four innings and struck out five batters and Brooke Hanscom struck out three in relief for Lincoln.
