ROCKPORT – On July 5, at the first concert series of its 42nd Summer Music Festival, Bay Chamber Concerts will kick off its summer fund-raiser series, a series of raffles for six musical weekends at prestigious concert halls in selected American cities.
Titled “Help Us Hit the High Note!,” the summer-long raffle will give six winners the chance to enjoy classical music in Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, and Washington, D.C.
“We are so excited to be able to offer everyone in the mid-coast area these terrific packages,” said Marty Rogers, chairman of Bay Chamber Concerts board of trustees. “Each time 200 tickets are sold, we will have a drawing for a new winner.”
Monies raised will go toward underwriting Bay Chamber Concerts’ artistic programming and valuable education activities.
Those who purchase raffle tickets early in the summer will have more opportunities to win a trip, as each successive two hundred tickets will be added to the next drawing. Winners will appear on stage at the Rockport Opera House prior to Bay Chamber Concerts’ Friday night performances to draw at random their musical weekend package. If the individual is not able to attend the concert, a member of the Bay Chamber Board will draw for them. Raffle drawings will continue until the close of the summer concert season in August.
The winning ticket holder will receive accommodations for two, round-trip travel from Portland and a pair of concert tickets. Concerts include the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops, among others. Accommodations have been donated by the Westin Embassy Row in Washington, D.C., Hampton Inn & Suites Chicago Downtown, the Eliot and Lenox Hotels in Boston, and the Latham Hotel in Philadelphia.
Raffle tickets are $25 each, or five for $100. Tickets may be purchased during intermission at any Thursday and Friday night Bay Chamber Concerts performance; at Harbor Audio Video in Camden; at the Camden Farmers’ Market in July 20 and Aug. 3; at the Rockland Farmers’ Market July 18 and Aug. 8; and at the Bay Chamber Concerts office, 10 School St. in Rockport.
