GREENWOOD – A jogger Sunday morning discovered the body of an all-terrain vehicle operator whose machine hit an iron gate the previous night, the Maine Warden Service said.

Matthew T. Collins, 20, of Greenwood apparently was driving home from a party when his ATV hit the gate on private property, Lt. Mike Marshall said.

His body was found near a rail bed about 7 a.m. by a jogger. Collins’ helmet came loose upon impact and was found unlatched about 75 feet from his body, Marshall said. The jogger was not identified.
