Tweedie, Parker spark Bangor West softball win

BANGOR – Erica Tweedie and Kristin Parker belted back-to-back triples in a five-run fourth inning as Bangor West defeated Orono-Veazie 21-6 Monday in a District 3 ages 11-12 Little League softball game.

Tweedie knocked in a pair of runs with her triple and scored on Parker’s triple.

Tweedie also homered and singled in the game and drove in four runs. Parker had a double and a single to go with her triple and had three RBIs; winning pitcher Erin Dean delivered three runs with two doubles and a single and Courtney Stevenson had three singles.

Tanna Jellison’s two doubles, two singles and two RBIs led Orono-Veazie and Amy Wadleigh had four singles.

Old Town 20, Lincoln 4

At Old Town, Sami Morin hit three singles with three RBIs for Old Town.

Allison Brown had two singles with three RBIs for Old Town. Cally Randall and Tiffany Gammon hit a double and a single. Morgin Cossar and Brooke Hackett heach hit a pair of singles.

Erin Anderson, Sarah French, McKenzie Mura each hit a single for Lincoln.

Sunrise 27, Acadian 2

At Bar Harbor, Seaira Robinson smacked two home runs and two singles to lead Sunrise of Milbridge past Acadian.

Lona Sargeant pitched a one-hitter for Sunrise. Nicole Sargeant hit three triples and a home run. Morgan Traxler added a triple, double and a single, Nicole Ball singled twice and Mandy Ostberg tripled.

Emma Damon singled for Acadian.

At Calais, Courtney Ayers rapped a single and a double and drove in two runs to pace Calais.

Brooke Winchester and Stephanie Perry each singled and knocked in two runs for Calais.

Megan Look stroked two singles and had two RBIs and Hannah Beal singled in a run for Machias.

Glenburn-Levant 16, Border 0

At Hodgdon, Jon Doughty held Border to only two hits, two walks, and no runs on nine strikeouts through four innings for Glenburn-Levant.

Jonathon Gagnon hit a triple and a double with three RBIs for Glenburn-Levant. Miles Gagnon and J Spencer each singled to knock in two runs. Andrew Casey had an RBI double.

Josh Lenentine and Cody Watton each had a single for Border.

Orrington 9, Hermon 7

At Hermon, Caleb Smith scattered eight hits to pick up the win and he aided his own cause with a double as Orrington eliminated Hermon.

Smith struck out seven and walked three.

Todd Ramsey had two singles for the winners.

Kevin Tarr tripled and doubled for Hermon while Paul Miller and Josh Curtis each singled twice.

At Brewer, Billy Bissell and Mike Kotredes combined for 10 strikeouts and no hits for Brewer.

Ryan Nadeau doubled and knocked in a run and Ralph Cammack hit a two-run double for Brewer.

Millinocket 17, Orono-Veazie 13

At Orono, Tommy Jones had a double, three singles, and an RBI and Justin Pelkey drove in three runs with a double and two singles as Millinocket built a 13-1 lead before holding off and eliminating Orono-Veazie.

Cory Barnett had two singles and two RBIs for Millinocket and Josh Montgomery hit a solo homer and a single. Jason Chase picked up the win in relief.

Dan Taft and Aaron Healey paced Orono with three hits each. Taft had a double, two singles and an RBI and Healey had three singles and two RBIs. Nate Hennigan tripled and singled and drove in two runs as did Max Winter, who singled twice.

At Rockport, Eathan Chase hit a home run for Waldo in the seventh inning.

Corey Morin tripled and singled for Waldo. Shawn Smith hit a single and a double. Tom Cameron and Tyler Miles each singled.

Christian Pieri hit a double and two singles for Camden-Rockport.

At Bar Harbor, Logan Norsen tossed a two-hitter, striking out six and walking five, to pace Acadian.

Nick Hubbard hit a triple and two singles for Acadian. Jon Hall singled and doubled.

Dylan Burr, Paul Fineman, and Justin Gilmartin each had a pair of singles.

Michael Little and Wilder Hastings had a single apiece for Machais.

At Knox, Willy Mayer gave up only two runs on one hit while striking out fifteen for Waldo.

Michael Cochran hit a two-run home run in the third inning for Waldo. Brad Dolen doubled to knock in two runs. Evan Kingsbury doubled. Justin Rodgerson and Mayer each had a single.

Chad Scott hit a single for Camden-Rockport’s only hit.
