NEW LIMERICK – The state Fire Marshal’s Office on Tuesday was investigating a fire that destroyed a boat at Nickerson Lake.
A 1975 15-foot-long Renkin fiberglass boat, with a 65-horsepower Mercury outboard motor, belonging to Tim Guy was destroyed by the fire at about midnight.
Guy told Houlton firefighters who responded that he had used the boat for about an hour at around 7:30 p.m. Monday before putting it on a trailer and pulling it ashore.
The fire was discovered by a neighbor who was driving by Guy’s camp on Crescent Park Road and saw the burning boat. The neighbor awakened Guy, who called the Houlton Fire Department.
