A Bangor man was charged with exposing himself after he was refused access to the restroom Tuesday at a downtown Bangor business.

Police charged Shawab Jenkins, 26, with indecent exposure after the incident at the Intown Internet Cafe. Jenkins allegedly left the cafe upset after being told that the restroom facilities were for customers only, a fact that is posted on the building. He began yelling at the owner and then dropped his pants, Detective Paul Edwards was told.

The owner and a man who had been present for the display told Edwards that they were disgusted and wanted to press charges. In speaking to police, Jenkins suggested that he had been a customer and therefore entitled to use the facilities. He told Edwards that he had purchased a drink about a half-hour before the incident and had left, returning a little later when he needed to use the restroom.

An Old Town man with a large amount of cash on him told police that the baseball cards he had taken from a convenience store were for his son who collects them.

Michael Ferris, 46, was captured on the surveillance camera at the 7-Eleven on State Street Wednesday afternoon placing several packs of baseball cards in his back pocket, reported Officer Michael Kenny. Ferris was located in the area and the police said they found the cards inside a paper bag he had that also contained soda and two packs of cigarettes Ferris had purchased.

Officer Erik Tall said that Ferris admitted taking the seven packs of cards, despite having a large amount of cash on hand.

“I’m so embarrassed, ” he told police. “I took them for my kid who collects them.”

Bangor police arrested 18-year-old Shaun Gordon of Orrington on Tuesday after it was reported that he hid two bottles of liquor in his long, baggy shorts and walked out of the Main Street Shaw’s Supermarket.

Gordon was confronted outside the store by an employee who told Officer Edward A. Mercier that she had some difficulty in getting Gordon to return to the store.

Gordon was arrested and charged with theft.
