Christie, Cole combine to lift Houlton

ORONO – Tyrel Christie’s fielder’s choice plated Nick Cole, scoring the winning run as Houlton-Woodstock rallied to a 7-6 victory over Orono in American Legion action Thursday at the high school field.

Houlton scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning. Chris Blanchette came in on an error and Ryan Schools tied the game when he scored on a Scott Phillips single. Cole and Caleb Palmer each singled twice.

Bo Thomas led the Twins with a three-run homer in the first inning. Mike Merritt racked up a double, two singles and an RBI. Chris Rand doubled twice and added a single, and Dustin Thomas hit two singles.

Bangor 9, Calais 4

At Calais, Andy Treadwell and Andy Tremble each slammed a three-run homer to power the Comrades.

Kevin Procter added two singles for Bangor.

Scott MacDonald launched a solo homer to go with a single for the Suns while his brother James singled twice.

Penquis 11, Lincoln 10

At Lincoln, Ross Morrison scored on a Seth Strout fielder’s choice to pick up what would be the game-winning run for Penquis.

James Gray and Adam Russell provided the power as each hit a three-run homer in the fifth and sixth innings, respectively. Gray added a single and Strout finished with two RBIs.

Tom Lasko led Lincoln with a solo homer, a double and a single. Matt Malone and Jeremy Ham each hit a solo home run and Scott Flannery singled twice.

Trenton 10, Sebasticook 2

At Ellsworth, lefty Jon Dow fired a three-hitter, striking out 10 and walking three, and Mark Clapp’s two-run single keyed a five-run fourth-inning rally that erased a 2-1 deficit.

Dustin Young’s RBI fielder’s choice tied it before Clapp broke the tie. Garrett Hardison’s squeeze bunt and Chris Sargent’s RBI double capped the rally.

Sargent had two singles to go with his double and knocked in four runs. Clapp had three singles and two RBIs.

Jake Lasselle doubled for Sebasticook.
