Hackett does double duty to lead OT stars Old Town avoids elimination vs. Holbrook

BANGOR – Lonnie Hackett did the job on the mound and at the plate to lead the Old Town All-Stars past Holbrook 4-3 in a District 3 ages 9-10 elimination game Friday.

Hackett hit a triple in the bottom of the sixth to knock in the tying run and later scored the winning run on a wild pitch. On the mound, Hackett notched 13 strikeouts and allowed only three runs on three hits.

Nick Michaud, Brandon Cyr, and Josh Boucher each hit a single for Old Town.

Joe Burke hit a double for Holbrook. Devon Cyr and Kyle Senter singled.

Bangor East 15, Millinocket 5

At Bangor, Devin Lyshon hit two doubles and a single to aid Bangor East in their win over Millinocket.

Luke Hettermann doubled and singled for Bangor East.

Garen Manzo hit a triple and a double for Millinocket. Derek Hibbs, Aaron Cyr, and Brandon Bouchard each singled.

At Bucksport, John Hall singled and knocked in two runs to help Machias to the win.

Sam Stevens, Michael Lenfestey and Justin Weaver added a single apiece for Machias.

Dylan Troiani lashed a triple and a single and drove in two runs for Calais.

At Ellsworth, Patrick Kelley pitched a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts to lift Ellsworth to the win.

Dillon Wilbur and Greg Berry each hit a solo home run in the first inning. Cody Sargent doubled, singled and drove in two runs while Travis Dressel doubled and hit two singles.

Mike Little and Robbie Smith each hit a single for Machias.

At Bar Harbor, Justin Gilmartin fired a four-hitter, striking out nine and walking none, and aided his own cause with three singles and an RBI for Acadian.

Nick Hubbard added three singles and an RBI for Acadian while Dylan Linscott doubled in a run.

Sam Bell and Rod Terrell smacked a double apiece for Calais. Terrell drove in a run.

At Blue Hill, Bret Ryan’s two-run homer in the fifth inning, following a game-tying solo shot by Jeremy Dunham, enabled Coastal to overcome a fourth-inning grand slam by Alex Pappas and rally past Bucksport.

Reliever Ray Garcia pitched two innings of shutout relief, striking out five, to notch the win.

Dunham had a single to go with his homer. Nick Saunders hit a solo homer and Josh Astbury had a pair of singles.

Pappas had two singles in addition to his grand slam and Lucas Marks had an RBI single for Bucksport.

Teddy Cooke added a single and a double for Bucksport while Chad Cottrell and Forrest Wardwell notched two singles apiece. Chris Maguire doubled and drove in two runs and Todd Freeman had a single and two RBIs.

Nick Wood and Dan Ackley had a single each for Machias.

Kevin McAvoy tripled with two RBIs for Orono-Veazie. Andrew Otis hit a double and a single. Ryan Levesque had a pair of singles and Jeff Mille tripled.

At Machias, Stephanie Perry struck out 13 while allowing only one run on one hit and five walks to lead Calais to the District 1 championship.

Perry hit three singles with two RBIs for Calais. Brook Winchester and Courtney Hill each singled.

Megan Look had Machias’ only hit with a single.

Bangor West 21, Glenburn 20

At Glenburn, Jen Herbert’s run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth capped a two-run rally that gave Bangor West its come-from-behind triumph.

Megan Judkins drove in three runs with a double and a single for Bangor, which erased an 11-0 deficit with a 12-run first inning rally. Erica Tweedie knocked in two runs with a triple and a single and Erin Dean and Herbert had two singles each.

Megan Quintal had three singles, two doubles and four RBIs for Glenburn and Sara Pavento also drove in four runs with two doubles and two singles. Ashley Smith hit a pair of solo homers, Amanda Treadwell had a double, two singles and three RBIs and Erica Hanson had three singles.

At Glenburn, Eliza Estabrook threw a three-hitter over four innings, striking out six and walking six, and Kimberly Jordan paced an 11-hit attack with a double, two singles and an RBI.

Taylor Lewis had three singles for Bangor and Stephanie Comstock doubled twice and knocked in a run.

Hannah Morin doubled for Old Town.
