Aroostook CAP to test for lead-based paint

PRESQUE ISLE – Aroostook County Action Program has funds available to complete a number of lead-based paint inspections at no cost to income-eligible families in Aroostook County, according to James E. Baillargeon, director of energy and housing services for The County.

Funding for the inspections is being provided by the Maine State Housing Authority’s Lead Hazard Control Program.

The program targets income-eligible, single-family homeowners and landlords with eligible tenants, who have children under age 6 living in the household. Families with children under age 6 who test positive for elevated lead levels in their blood are eligible for priority funding.

To request a Lead Hazard Control Program application or additional information, call ACAP Energy and Housing Services at 768-3023 or toll-free at (800) 432-7881.
