ORONO – James Gray drove in seven runs on a three-run single, an RBI double, two RBI singles, and a sacrifice fly to lead the Navigators to a 21-16 victory in the first game of an American Legion baseball doubleheader Saturday.
Penquis took the second game 7-4.
In the first game, Adam Russell contributed three RBIs on a triple, two singles and a sacrifice fly. Seth Strout doubled, singled twice and knocked in two runs. Seth Gabbarro singled twice and had an RBI, Ross Morrison hit three singles and Joey Kane singled twice and added three RBIs.
Bo Thomas led Orono with five RBIs on a two-run homer, a two-run single and an RBI double. Brad Goody added two RBIs on three singles and a double.
In the second game, Gabbarro sparked the Navigators with a two-run single in the first. Jason Weymouth, who scattered seven hits, fanned eight and walked four, hit two singles. Bryan White doubled.
Orono’s Chris Rand hit a two-run double. Mike Merritt added a double and a single.

Calais and Lincoln split
At Lincoln, Joe Footer hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning of the second game to aid Calais in their 10-7 win over Lincoln 10-7.
In the first game, Nate Cousineau singled and doubled to lead Lincoln to a 4-3 win. Andy McLellan hit two singles with two RBIs.
Footer singled and hit a sacrifice fly for Calais and James MacDonald added an RBI single.
In the second game, James MacDonald hit two singles with two RBIs and Scott MacDonald doubled and had two singles to lead Calais. Jeff Dougherty and Chad Pike each had a single and a double.
Tom Lasko hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning for Lincoln. Matt Malone had three singles and two RBIs and Nate Dow singled and doubled.

Brewer sweeps Waldo-Knox
At Heddericg Field in Brewer Saturday night, a solid pitching effort in the first game by Andy Wentworth and an explosive day at the plate for Joel Barrett in the second gave the Brewer Falcons the doubleheader sweep.
In the first game, Wentworth scattered five hits over seven innings while striking our four hitters and walking two to lead Brewer. Barrett hit a two-run home run and singled to pace the offense. Pat Moran also hit a two-run homer, Abram Allard had two singles and two RBIs, and Chris McHale added an RBI triple.
For the Wildcats, Jamie Potvin had an RBI double and John Bonney singled twice.
In the second game, Barrett drove in five runs – four on a fifth-inning grand slam and the last being the game-winner – to lead the Falcons.
Barrett’s single with one out and runners at first and second scored Adam Sheehan with the winning run in the eighth. Allard had a double and a triple while Wentworth added an RBI double.
Chris Carmen led the Wildcats with two doubles, a single, and an RBI. Tom Dennen had two singles and an RBI.

Houlton sweeps twinbill
At Pittsfield, righthanders Ryan Schools and Caleb Palmer combined on a no-hitter in the second game to help Houlton-Woodstock sweep Sebasticook in a doubleheader 11-1. Houlton won the first game 5-2.
Schools pitched five innings in the second game and struck out six and walked three. Palmer finished the final two innings and struck out two and walked one.
Clint Hitchcock and Alex English each doubled and singled to lead the winners. Mike Lenentine added two singles and an RBI.
Hitchcock earned the win in the first game as he scattered seven hits while striking out eight and walking only one. Lenentine backed the win with a three-run triple. Nick Cole added a double and a single.
Steven Kennedy singled twice and drove in a run for Sebasticook.
