I found George Danby’s editorial cartoon of “inocket” to be in very poor taste (BDN, July 13-14). I find the editorial staff that would support the bashing of 200 laid-off workers through an editorial cartoon guilty as well. I can’t think of a more inappropriate time to bash the American worker and all the efforts of the workers and owners of these mills who know and believe they make a fine product but for the downturn in the economy and the events of Sept. 11 would have succeeded in their efforts.

This is what makes America great: a group of men willing to take a risk and invest their lives and future on something they can build and sell through hard work and with pride.

Danby should come talk to the laid-off workers and try to convince them not to cancel their subscriptions to the Bangor Daily News as a way of cutting back on their household budgets, or maybe he feels they can just eat what he grinds in their face.
