MDI Biological Lab gala set for July 26

SALISBURY COVE – This year’s Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory gala event, “Pearls by the Sea,” is set for Friday, July 26. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a silent auction featuring a variety of jewelry donated by local jewelers.

Dinner and dancing to the Red Light Revue band begins at 7 p.m. Red Light Revue recently was voted “Portland’s Best Dance Band” in a Portland Press Herald reader poll.

Tickets are $100 per person for the evening. Ticket price includes a chance to win a Tahitian pearl necklace, donated by Shaw’s Contemporary Jewelry of Northeast Harbor.

Additional chances to win the necklace may be purchased for $50 each. Proceeds from the event will support MDIBL’s unique hands-on training program for young scientists and physicians.

Donated items for the benefit gala include: pink tourmaline earrings, sterling silver swirl bracelet, sea glass earrings, lighthouse earrings with Maine tourmaline, lobster pendant and box chain with Maine tourmaline, puffin pendant and box chain with Maine tourmaline, freshwater pearl necklace, ring, sterling silver lobster pendant with cultured pearl necklace, 14-karat gold earrings, amethyst and peridot drop earrings, amethyst earring and ring set, men’s Freestyle sport watch.
