SEARSPORT – The Penobscot Marine Museum is planning a gala auction-dinner-dance Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Belfast Boathouse Commons. Daniel K. Thorne of New York and Islesboro is chairing the event, which includes a silent auction of about 100 items and a live auction of 20 lots conducted by James Julia. The auction gala is PMM’s major fund-raiser for the year.
Going up for bid in the live auction are works of art by well-known artists such as R.B. Dance, Charles Kenney, Walt Kuhn, Jonas Lie, R. Kirk Moore, Robert Eric Moore, William Muir and John Neville. The 80 lots in the silent auction are composed of antiques, artwork, collectibles, and gift certificates.
Dinner will follow the auction. Music for dancing will be provided by Red Light Review.
Auction tickets are: schooner $100, brig $250, and barque $500. Special seating will be given to those purchasing a captain’s table at $2,500 or an admiral’s table at $5,000. A color catalog will be mailed to all PMM members and gala guests in advance of the event, and absentee bids will be accepted for those unable to attend.
