Country singer Brad Paisley brings his act to Bangor fair

BANGOR – Fresh from his 2001 Country Music Association win, Brad Paisley will bring his award-winning, engaging style to the Bangor State Fairgrounds in Bangor Monday, July 29, for one 7 p.m. show.

Starting off 2001 with a bang, Paisley was nominated for his first Grammy Award, – the prestigious Best New Artist Award – which came on the heels of several nominations and wins from a variety of organizations and publications in 2000.

Paisley garnered more award wins and nominations, for both his singing and his songwriting, than any other country newcomer, mostly on the strength of his chart-topping single, self-penned ode to step-dads entitled, “He Didn’t Have To Be.”

He received nods from CMA – where he led all other contenders except Faith Hill, who had six nominations – ACM, TNN, and numerous trade magazines.

His album “Who Needs Pictures” has recently been certified platinum for sales in excess of a million units, and “He Didn’t Have To Be” made Paisley the only 1999 chart-debuting artist to achieve a No. 1 Billboard single.

National television appearances followed on the heels of national print coverage, and Brad Paisley has become one of the most-talked about country male artists since Garth Brooks.

Paisley’s sophomore album, “Brad Paisley Part II,” was released in May of 2001. His first two singles, “Two People Fell in Love” and “Wrapped Around” were both self-penned and Top-5 and Top-10 hits respectively.
