NORCROSS – Members of the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating a fire that destroyed a one-story cottage near Route 11 Tuesday night.
Passers-by reported seeing flames in the area of the cottage shortly before 9 p.m., Millinocket Fire Chief Wayne Campbell said. Members of the Millinocket Fire Department arrived at the cottage within 10 minutes and had the blaze under control in 20 minutes but remained on scene until 2 a.m. Wednesday extinguishing the fire and cleaning up.
The cottage was owned by Jeannot Landry of Medway, Campbell said. No one was home at the time of the fire.
Landry could not be reached for comment.
