BANGOR – Bangor rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat Orono-Veazie 6-3 in the championship game of the District 3 Senior League all-star baseball tournament Thursday night at Mansfield Stadium.
By virtue of the 6-3 win, Bangor earns a spot in the Senior League Baseball World Series, which will be held at Mansfield Stadium Aug. 11-17. Bangor earned the automatic bid awarded to the host district.
Orono-Veazie had forced the “if necessary” finale with a 5-3 win in Thursday’s first game.
Bangor snapped a 3-3 tie in the seventh. Nate Hall reached on a bunt single, then pinch-runner Jordan Heath scored all the way from first on an error.
Bangor added two insurance runs on RBI singles by Brian Hackett and Tim Woodcock. Josh Young scattered nine hits, striking out five and walking one. Hall, Hackett and Mike LaRochelle posted two singles apiece.
Ryan Levesque doubled and singled with an RBI to lead Orono-Veazie. Dusty Thomas (1 RBI) and Andrew Patterson added two singles each.
In the first game, Kevin McAvoy pitched a five-hitter, striking out four and walking five, to pace Orono-Veazie. Dustin Thomas and Ryan Levesque each rapped a double, a single and had an RBI.
Mike LaRochelle doubled for Bangor.

At Harrington, Josh Eaton smacked an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to score Will Rosenthal and give Coastal the victory.
Rosenthal had three singles of his own while Harrison Hines had two RBI singles and Josh Gott added two singles and an RBI. Blake Wessell chipped in with an RBI double.
Wade Hopkins led Bucksport with two doubles, a single and three RBIs while Joey Carmichael had two singles and an RBI. Nye Gifford contributed with two singles and a double while Robby Pushard helped out with two singles.

At Bangor East, Lance Bernier hit an RBI double and Tyler Tash hit an RBI single to help Lincoln score two runs in the top of the seventh inning and stave off elimination in the championship game.
Tash finished with three singles. Ethan White hit two singles and doubled. First baseman Ivan Voisine and catcher Travis Langevin combined to throw out a runner at home for the third out in the bottom of the sixth.
Evan McCarthy and Bronson Merry each hit a double and a single for Katahdin. Travis Casey added two singles.

At Belfast, Kyle Eitinger hit a single as well as a double in the top of the sixth inning that gave Camden the edge they needed to defeat Belfast.
Gabe Blodgett contributed with two singles for Camden.
Jake Arthurs led the Belfast offense with a two-run double and a solo home run.
Camden moves on to play Waldo on Monday and must defeat them twice for the championship title.

At Bangor, Jamie Gomm pitched a complete game, striking out seven batters as well as hitting a triple to help lead Bangor to the win.
Stacey Gomm, Jamie’s sister, contributed with two singles for Bangor.
Meghan Osborne and Jenn Shue each had two singles for Hampden.
