Just wondering if the July 13-14 editorial cartoon (“Map of Inocket, Maine, formerly Millinocket”) was for a good laugh. I didn’t see any humor. Maybe you shouldn’t poke fun at the little towns and many hands that feed you.

The merchants of Bangor always seem to love the money that once flowed from Millinocket. The cartoonist probably has never had a pink slip with a family to feed and educate. I only hope the Bangor Daily News or even Eastern Maine Medical Center never have to lay off 75 percent of their staff. Who will draw a cartoon then?

Come to Millinocket – we know how to deal with stress. The emotional stress that has resulted from the past 10-plus years has taken a toll on a caring and giving community. We’ve kept our chin up through thick and thin and we will continue, even with jabs from the BDN. This would be a good time to see some support, emotional or financial, from other parts of the state.
