Brewer concluded the regular season in American Legion Zone 1 Sunday with the best record, 21-1, which also earned it the top seed in the South Division. Also earning playoff spots for the baseball tourney from the South were Trenton and Waldo-Knox, both with 14-8 records.

Brewer concluded the regular season in American Legion Zone 1 Sunday with the best record, 21-1, which also earned it the top seed in the South Division. Also earning playoff spots for the baseball tourney from the South were Trenton and Waldo-Knox, both with 14-8 records.

In the North, Bangor grabbed the top spot with a 15-7 mark while Lincoln earned a playoff spot by finishing second in that division with a 10-12 record. Penquis also finished 10-12 to grab the final playoff spot.

In the Zone 1 tourney, the top two teams in each division qualify plus the next two teams with the best records. The tourney opens Thursday at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor where Brewer will take on Lincoln at noon, followed by Bangor against Penquis at 4 p.m. and Waldo-Knox vs. Trenton at 8 p.m.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor Sunday, James Gray cranked a two-run double in the sixth inning to give the Navigators the winning edge.

Jason Weymouth chipped in with two singles for the winners, one a two-run hit in the fifth. Brian White added two singles and an RBI.

Zev Myerowitz cranked a grand slam for Bangor and Andy Tremble had three singles and an RBI.

Bangor takes two from Orono

At Mansfield Stadium Bangor on Saturday, the Comrades got excellent pitching in the first game from Billy Chapman and shut out the Twins 3-0 and then pounded out 13 hits en route to a 12-3 win in the second game.

In the first game, Chapman fired a one-hitter, striking out six and walking four. Andy Tremble’s single drove in Phil Cayford and Shawn Dennis plated Tyler Jellison with a sacrifice fly in the second inning. Kevin Proctor and Josh Young had two singles apiece.

Shaun Tidwell had Orono’s only hit.

In the second game, Andy Treadwell had three singles and an RBI, Tremble, Cayford and Proctor had two singles and a RBI each for the Comrades.

Bo Thomas led the Twins with a pair of singles and two RBIs and Todd Ellis drove in a run with a single.

Trenton sweeps Houlton

At Houlton, Travis Tripp fired a two-hitter to earn an 8-4 win over Houlton-Woodstock in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader and teammate Chris Sargent followed that with a three-hitter in Trenton’s 6-1 win in the nightcap.

In the first game, Tripp struck out nine and walked five to earn the win. Sargent singled twice and knocked in two runs, B.J. Greenleaf rapped three singles and drove in a run and Brandon Colbath doubled, singled and knocked in one.

In the second game, Sargent struck out nine and didn’t walk a batter in the victory. Jacob Lowell rapped two singles and drove in a run while Ryan Hutchins and Sargent each singled in two runs.

At Ellsworth on Sunday, Jonathan Dow reached base on a fielder’s choice bunt, moved to second on another fielder’s choice, and scored the game-winning run on an infield error on Mark Clapp’s grounder in the bottom of the ninth.

Jacob Lowell drove in six runs with two singles and a triple for Trenton. Brandon Colbath and Dow each singled twice. Colbath knocked in two runs and Dow one.

At Bucksport on Sunday, Jason Harvey stroked a double and two singles and Abram Allard added three singles as the Falcons rolled.

Kyle Mercer contributed a three-run triple for Brewer while Chris McHale doubled and singled and Joel Barrett singled twice. Pat Moran hit a two-run single.

Kenny Campbell drilled a three-run homer in the first for Houlton-Woodstock. Clint Hitchcock and Nick Cole added an RBI single apiece.

Waldo-Knox sweeps Sebasticook

At Pittsfield, Waldo-Knox allowed just three runs in two games to earn a doubleheader sweep of Sebasticook on Saturday. Waldo-Knox won the first game 7-3 and the second 8-0.

In the first game, Pasco Grove homered and singled for Waldo-Knox. Tom Dennen and Nick Arthers each hit a pair of singles.

In the second game, Grove hit a triple and a single for Waldo-Knox. Arthers hit two singles and Chris Carmen doubled and singled. Carmen pitched a one-hitter, striking out six and walking just two.

At Orono, Sunday, Jeff Miller scored on Ryan Thibodeau’s infield single with one out in the ninth inning to give the Twins the win over the Wildcats.

Orono trailed entering the final inning but rallied with George Keefe scoring the tying run on an error before pushing across the winning run.

Thibodeau finished the game with two singles and an RBI while Ryan Levesque doubled and had a pair of singles and two runs batted in and Mike Merritt drove in two runs on a single for Orono.

Pasco Grove had a double and two singles and Shane Eddy singled twice and drove in a run for Waldo-Knox.

Blue Hill sweeps Schoodic

At Blue Hill, Troy Brown and Joel Wessell combined for a one-hitter for Blue Hill in the first game for a 1-0 victory over Schoodic. Blue Hill won the second game 5-3.

In the first game, Toby Cole hit a double and a single with one RBI for Blue Hill. Seth Cole and Justin Harmon each singled. Brown and Wessell struck out eight and allowed no walks.

Mike Cowperthwaite singled for Schoodic’s only hit.

In the second game, Chris Young hit a two run home run in the second inning for Blue Hill. Seth Cole hit a pair of doubles and a single with a RBI and John Lewandowski hit two singles.

Travis Bickford had two singles for Schoodic and Willy Seward singled twice and drove in two runs.

Belfast and Brewer split

At Belfast, Dan Cullen hit a single and a two-run homer in the sixth inning to tie it up in the first game for Belfast.

In the first game, Joe Littlefield hit the game winning single for Belfast in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Evan Stinson doubled and tripled for Brewer and Ryan Snell hit a RBI single.

In the second game, Aaron Largay hit a pair of singles and a triple with three RBIs for Brewer.

Josh Rolyea doubled and scored a run for Belfast.
