Trenton rallies by Calais 11-10 Acadians finish regular season in Zone 1 with 14-8 record

ELLSWORTH – The Trenton Acadians rallied past the Calais Suns 11-10 in an American Legion baseball game Sunday.

Jonathan Dow reached base on a fielder’s choice bunt, moved to second on another fielder’s choice, and scored the game-winning run on an infield error on Mark Clapp’s grounder in the bottom of the ninth.

Jacob Lowell drove in six runs with two singles and a triple for Trenton. Brandon Colbath and Dow each singled twice. Colbath knocked in two runs and Dow one.

Brian Maloney smacked a triple and a single and drove in a run for Calais. Mark Hill added two RBIs on a single and a double.

Trenton sweeps Houlton

At Houlton, Travis Tripp fired a two-hitter to earn an 8-4 win over Houlton-Woodstock in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader and teammate Chris Sargent followed that with a three-hitter in Trenton’s 6-1 win in the nightcap.

In the first game, Tripp struck out nine and walked five to earn the win. Sargent singled twice and knocked in two runs, B.J. Greenleaf rapped three singles and drove in a run and Brandon Colbath doubled, singled and knocked in one.

Caleb Palmer singled in a run for Houlton-Woodstock and Tyler Christie singled.

In the second game, Sargent struck out nine and didn’t walk a batter in the victory. Jacob Lowell rapped two singles and drove in a run while Ryan Hutchins and Sargent each singled in two runs.

Mike Lenentine led Houlton-Woodstock with a single and an RBI.

At Bucksport on Sunday, Jason Harvey stroked a double and two singles and Abram Allard added three singles as the Falcons rolled.

Kyle Mercer contributed a three-run triple for Brewer while Chris McHale doubled and singled and Joel Barrett singled twice. Pat Moran hit a two-run single.

Kenny Campbell drilled a three-run homer in the first for Houlton-Woodstock. Clint Hitchcock and Nick Cole added an RBI single apiece.

Waldo-Knox sweeps Sebasticook

At Pittsfield, Waldo-Knox allowed just three runs in two games to earn a doubleheader sweep of Sebasticook on Saturday. Waldo-Knox won the first game 7-3 and the second 8-0.

In the first game, Pasco Grove homered and singled for Waldo-Knox. Tom Dennen and Nick Arthers each hit a pair of singles.

Steve Kennedy and Michael Adams each singled for Sebasticook.

In the second game, Grove hit a triple and a single for Waldo-Knox. Arthers hit two singles and Chris Carmen doubled and singled. Carmen pitched a one-hitter, striking out six and walking just two.

Ben Davis singled for Sebasticook’s only hit.

Belfast and Brewer split

At Belfast, Belfast scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to post a 4-3 win in the first game of a doubleheader while Brewer earned a split with a 6-1 win in the nightcap.

In the first game, Dan Cullen hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to tie it up in the first game for Belfast, and also singled. Joe Littlefield hit the game-winning single for Belfast in the bottom of the seventh.

Evan Stinson doubled and tripled for Brewer and Ryan Snell hit an RBI single.

In the second game, Aaron Largay hit a pair of singles and a triple with three RBIs for Brewer. Snell and Billy Kane each hit two singles.

Josh Relyea doubled and scored a run for Belfast.
