FRANKFORT – Casey Ashey hurled a two-hitter, fanning 13 and walking only two as Waldo County beat Camden-Rockport 7-2 to win the ages 11-12 District 2 championship in Little League all-star baseball action Monday.
With the win, Waldo qualified for the state tournament.
Nathan Adams slammed a two-run homer for the winners. Corey Morin and Nick Beal each had two singles, and Ashey added an RBI single.
Gabriel Blodgett and Tom Pierl each singled for Camden-Rockport.

At Bangor, Emma Vallencourt laced a two-run triple to power Saco past South Lewiston.
Amanda St. Pierre and Vallencourt combined on a three-hitter for the winners. Shannon Provost contributed three singles plus an RBI and Kayla Nielsen roped a two-run double plus a single.
Allysa Thomas cranked a two-run double for South Lewiston. Liz Obie and Sarah Clark each singled and scored.

Keith Petrin launched a two-run double for the winners and Craig Anton laced a two-run single. White added two singles.

Reporting games
Guidelines for coaches
During this busy sports season, the NEWS asks that managers and coaches for the home teams promptly report the games. Games can be reported starting at 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 3 p.m. on Sundays. Games can not be reported on Saturday.
Those seeking to report games from the Greater Bangor area may call at 990-8275. Those outside the Bangor area may call toll free at 1-800-310-8600. Game results will also be accepted through the fax machine. Its number is 990-8092.
Coaches and managers are urged to provide details for both teams when reporting games. First names of players on both teams as well as statistics are needed. Those not providing full details for both teams run the risk of the games not being published in the paper.
