OMAHA, Neb. – Many Mainers fared well in the first two days of competition at the USA Track and Field’s National Junior Olympic Championships,

Audra Curtis of Belfast captured the title in the 3000-meter racewalk in the youth girls division with a time of 15 minutes, 57.14 seconds..

In the bantam girls 1500 racewalk, Kelsey Woodbury of Morrill turned in a fifth-place finish, with a 9:23.93 effort. Irais Villa took the race in 8:37.71.

On the boys side in the same age group, Devin Goyette of East Poland finished 12th in 11:19.75. Matthew Forgues of Wiscasset was disqualified and Andrew Adams was the winner in 7:46.10.

In the boys intermediate decathlon, Matthew LaCasse of Scarborough is in fifth place after three events, the 100 dash (12.10), the long jump (5.48m) and the softball throw (11.57m). Adam Fretwell is currently in first. (11.51, 6.26m, 12.09m).

Katie Souviney of East Vassalboro is currently sixth in the young women’s heptathlon. She ran the 100 hurdles in 15.12, cleared 4-11 in the high jump, threw the shot put 9.49m, and ran a 27.57 200. Jacquelyn Johnson is the current leader (13.98, 5-5, 10.99m, 24.69).

In the young women’s 5000 racewalk, Jasmine Brooks of Peru finished third (28:15.65). Elizabeth Paxton took the race in 27:13.79.

In the youth boys 3000 racewalk, Padric Gleason of Dresdan finished sixth, walking 19:48.86. Paul Regul won in 15:01.25.
