BANGOR – John Michaud of St. Agatha and his business, L&M Trucking Corp., were sentenced in federal court Wednesday for numerous log and record-keeping violations.

Michaud, 46, was fined $2,000 and sentenced to three years probation after pleading guilty April 11 to a felony false statement charge. As part of the plea agreement, Michaud’s company was dissolved and is no longer eligible to operate trucks. L&M Trucking employed four drivers, including Michaud, and operated three trucks and five trailers.

The company was found to have allowed drivers to operate in excess of the prescribed number of hours allowed by the U.S. Department of Transportation. In April 1999, federal inspectors found numerous violations.
