BAR HARBOR – Bill Ferm of Mount Desert was elected president of the Abbe Museum board of trustees at the board’s meeting on July 18.

Ferm is an attorney in the firm Ross & Ferm LLC in Ellsworth. He served as an Abbe trustee from 1991 to 2000, then returned to the board as a clerk in 2001. He has been active in Mount Desert town government and has served on a number of nonprofit boards in the area. He also is active in youth sports and community groups.

Other people elected officers of the board are Rebecca Sargent of Ellsworth, vice president; Dr. Douglas Cowan of Blue Hill, clerk; Lee Pittle of Bar Harbor, treasurer; and Tracy Hallett of Bar Harbor, secretary.
