Sobering statistics

I read in the July 26 edition about a man prosecutors plan to send to prison for 11 OUIs. Eleven! How did he ever get to that number without being putin prison before this?

My daughter is trying to get her license. She has failed three times because of nerves. She is a great driver and doesn’t drink or smoke but, because she is nervous, she fails the tests.

The Maine driver’s manual states that on any given day one in 10 drivers on the street is above the legal blood-alcohol level. The manual states that Maine is “hard” on people who drink and drive. I find this not to be true if the newspaper is correct in its many articles about this subject. At least my daughter would be a sober driver on the road. Then, sometimes I am glad she is not driving with all the drunks on the road.

Put the drunks out of commission. Use the laws that are on the books for these people. Quit letting them get away with it. The next person they maim or kill may be one of your family members.
