LAUREL, Del. – Lacey Littlefield pitched a one-hitter to lead Hampden-Newburgh-Winterport past Rhode Island 7-6 in the Eastern Regional round robin softball tournament for ages 11-12 Tuesday.
Littlefield struck out 13 and walked five.
Maine scored the winning run when Katelin Tunney ran home from third on a passed ball with one out in the top of the seventh inning.
Kacey Belcher led Maine with three singles and an RBI. Amanda Palmer had two singles and an RBI while Riley Rawcliffe had a double.
Marian Lang’s single in the fifth broke up Littlefield’s no-hit bid.
Maine will play Vermont Wednesday at 8 p.m. and must win its next two games to have a shot at advancing.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Nick Dyer allowed eight hits over 5 1/3 innings, but didn’t walk a batter and yielded just one run to put Saco in the driver’s seat for the State Senior Little League baseball tournament.
Saco beat South Portland 6-1 in Tuesday’s winner’s bracket game at Mansfield Stadium.
Bob Smart led Saco’s offense with an RBI double.
Justin Collett had two singles and a double while Chris Jaif doubled and singled for South Portland.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Ryan Ford’s suicide squeeze bunt in the bottom of the sixth scored Mert Gould from third and Colby Gilbert pitched 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief with six strikeouts to get the win and eliminate Coastal.
Dave Roberge singled three times to lead Auburn. Gilbert had a triple, single, and one RBI. Kevin Potbriand had two singles and an RBI.
Dan Hilts had a double, single and one RBI. Adam Cousins, Nick Ciomei, Josh Gott, and James Friend each had two singles. Gott and Ciomei each added an RBI.
