A Maine stationery manufacturer’s entry was selected as the invitation of choice by television viewers in the “‘Today’ Throws A Wedding” feature.

Viewers of NBC’s “Today” show were asked to vote on which of four wedding invitations selected as finalists should be the invitation of choice for the couple, letting voters decide every detail of their wedding.

The winning invitation, made by William Arthur Inc. of Kennebunk, features hand-engraved lettering on a heavy Bristol paper stock with a smooth texture and an embossed border of delicate beads.

The invitations sell for $350 for a pack of 50.

The winning stationery manufacturer can thank a Kennebunkport store owner for attracting the attention.

Jean Betses, owner of Village Paperie, sold the winning set of invitations earlier this year to a bride from Connecticut who has a friend who works for the “Today” show.

When the “Today” show employee got her invitation, she suggested that it be considered by the “‘Today’ Throws a Wedding” staff.

William Arthur, with 350 employees, moved to Maine from Wellesley, Mass., in 1987. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hallmark Cards.
