Bangor police arrested Raymond Frenier, 47, of Indiana Avenue on Monday after he allegedly stole a bottle of Allen’s blackberry brandy from Shaw’s supermarket on Main Street.

According to police reports, Officer Edward Mercier found Frenier walking on First Street and questioned him about the theft. Frenier denied that he had been at Shaw’s recently and said he was visiting friends on First Street.

Mercier then asked Frenier to accompany him to the supermarket where they could verify that he was not the thief, and Frenier then allegedly confessed to the crime.

When bail conditions were checked, according to police reports, it was found that Frenier had previous parole conditions that he not be at the address on First Street and not be in possession of alcohol. His blood alcohol content was 0.24 percent.

Frenier was taken to Penobscot County Jail.

After a routine traffic stop, Bangor police charged a Job Corps student with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants Monday night.

According to police reports, Officer Edward Mercier stopped Matthew Brown, 20, on Forest Avenue because the vehicle he was driving had no taillights. When Mercier asked for a license, Brown gave him a Job Corps identification card and stated that he had a Connecticut driver’s license. In the report, Mercier said that the smell of alcohol was present in the vehicle.

Upon checking with the Department of Motor Vehicles, Mercier found that Brown was 20 years old and that his Connecticut license had been suspended.

Brown was then found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent and was given a summons for OUI.
