Wise Foods recalled its 20-ounce packages of Hannaford brand white tortilla chips Wednesday, saying they could contain nacho cheese chips with a dairy-based seasoning that could affect some people with dairy allergies.

The chips were distributed through Hannaford retail stores in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont. They have been removed from store shelves, the company said in a press release.

The chips come in a plastic package marked on the front, upper right-hand corner with the UPC code “041268 12334” and product code “SEP02X2B.”

Chips marketed under The Stop & Shop brand from New York to Massachusetts were also recalled.

The company said the problem stemmed from a temporary breakdown in the packaging process. No illnesses have been reported so far as a result of the error, the company said.
