A family reunion turned sour when a Hampden man allegedly tackled his wife outside a Bangor bar just before 1 a.m. Sunday, punched her nearly 20 times and slammed her head onto the parking lot pavement, police said.

Christopher Mansell, 30, had been kicked out of Barnaby’s, 357 Odlin Road, said Bangor police Officer Kevin MacLaren. When he tried to re-enter, he was given a criminal trespass warning and had to leave.

When his wife went outside, Mansell demanded the keys to the car. When his wife refused, they began to argue, MacLaren said. Mansell allegedly tackled his wife and began an assault after landing on the ground.

Once police had placed Mansell in handcuffs, his wife’s brother kicked Mansell in the head while he was still on the ground, MacLaren said. Stephen Sebastiano, 21, of Highlands City, Fla., was charged with assault, while Mansell was charged with domestic assault. Both were taken to Penobscot County Jail and released on personal recognizance bail. They will appear in 3rd District Court in Bangor on Sept. 16.

A Bangor man was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants after refusing to stop for police, failing a field sobriety test, then refusing an Intoxilyzer test, police said.

Police had noticed a 1986 Chevrolet Corvette make a wide turn onto Maple Street, then speed down the street, Bangor police Officer Brad Hanson said. The Corvette quickly pulled away when police pursued the car, traveling 55 to 60 mph. Officers found the vehicle backing into a driveway farther down Maple Street.

Police said Howard Williams, 37, was the driver. Police told him several times to turn off the Corvette’s engine, and Hanson said Williams failed every field sobriety test and refused an Intoxilyzer test. He will appear in 3rd District Court in Bangor on Sept. 16.

Two teen-agers were issued drug-related summonses just before midnight Friday on Chamberlain Street in Brewer after the vehicle they were in was stopped for a loud exhaust system.

The passenger, a 16-year-old male from Brewer, admitted to Brewer police Officer John Knappe and Cpl. Levi Sewall that he had a small bag of marijuana in his possession and turned it over to police, Sgt. Chris Martin said. He was charged with possession of a usable amount of marijuana. The driver, a 17-year-old male from Orrington, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police found a glass marijuana bong and pipe in the car.

A Bangor man faces numerous charges after Brewer officials Saturday afternoon found that the license plates on his car belonged to another vehicle.

Kenneth Ross, 55, was charged with illegal attachment of registration plates, operating after the suspension of his license and operating a vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants, Brewer police Sgt. Chris Martin said. Brewer police Cpl. Keith Emery had Ross perform a balloon test because Intoxilyzer equipment was not working. Police will know Ross’ blood-alcohol level within a few weeks.

Ross, who was released from Penobscot County Jail on personal recognizance bail shortly after his arrest, will appear in 3rd District Court in Bangor on Sept. 20.

A Brewer woman was charged with harassment by telephone and violation of bail conditions after she was arrested Saturday afternoon.

Cari Nappo, 25, allegedly had been repeatedly calling and threatening a woman with whom she had had an altercation the night before at an area bar, Brewer police Sgt. Chris Martin said. Nappo will appear in 3rd District Court in Bangor today.

A Raymond man faces a pair of drug-related charges after police pulled him over for a malfunctioning headlight and noticed a bag of marijuana in the rear of his car, officials said.

Police saw a small bag of marijuana in clear view when they approached Jordan Reglin, 18, to talk to him about his headlight on South Main Street just before 1 a.m. Sunday, Bangor police Sgt. Chris Martin said. A search of Reglin found a glass marijuana pipe in one of his pockets.

Reglin will appear in 3rd District Court in Bangor on Sept. 20 Reglin was charged with possession of a usable amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A 17-year-old male from Bangor was summoned for possession of a usable amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of tobacco products by a minor after police pulled him over on South Main Street on Sunday morning for problems with his brake lights, officials said.

Officer John Knappe had noticed a pack of cigarettes in the teen’s glove box when he opened it to get his registration, Brewer police Sgt. Chris Martin said. A search of the teen yielded a small bag of marijuana in one of his pockets. The teen told police that he had a marijuana pipe in the seat of his car.
