ORONO – Continuing its travel around the world without a passport, the Arcady Music Festival will present the T’ang String Quartet at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 19 at Minsky Hall, Class of 1944 Hall, University of Maine.

Based in its home country of Singapore, the T’ang Quartet is appearing at Tanglewood before coming to Maine as part of Arcady’s six weeks of musical offerings.

The musicians will perform a program that includes Britten’s “Simple Symphony Opus 4,” Schumann’s “String Quartet No. 1” and a piece by Chinese-American composer Bright Sheng.

They will be joined by Arcady’s artistic director, pianist Masanobu Ikemiya, for a performance of Brahms’ “Quintet for Piano and Strings in F-minor, Opus 34.”

Continuing its tradition of presenting talented youth along with professional musicians, Arcady has invited the Mannes and GEMS string quartets to alternate in performing with the T’ang.

Arcady Youth Competition winners Sarah St. Denis, soprano, Bar Harbor; and Kelsey Hudson, violin, Blue Hill, will be featured at specific venues.

In addition to the Orono concert, performances will be held:

. 7 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Blair Hill Inn in Greenville.

. 7 p.m. Aug, 21 at the Hutchinson Center in Belfast.

. 8 p.m. Aug. 22 at Holy Redeemer Church, Bar Harbor.

The Orono and Bar Harbor concerts will be preceded by an informative lecture beginning one hour before curtain time.

Tickets and information are available from Arcady at 288-2141 or 288-9500.

Tickets are $13 in advance, $15 at the door.
