PORTLAND – U.S. Sen. Susan Collins and her Democratic challenger, Chellie Pingree, have decided to take a hiatus from their heavily advertised campaigns in remembrance of Sept. 11.
Both campaigns said they will not air ads on the anniversary of the terrorist attacks. Collins’ campaign said it also would not advertise the evening before or the morning after and urged the state Republican Party to pull the ad it is running on her behalf.
Pingree’s campaign said it would not air ads at all on those three days and that volunteers and staff could have Sept. 11 off.
