The Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District has announced that Jacob Van De Sande recently completed a weeklong environmental education workshop at the University of Maine at Farmington.
Van De Sande, a Cherryfield resident and an Atlantic salmon educator for the Wild Salmon Resource Center in Columbia Falls, participated in the 16th annual Natural Resources Institute. The institute seeks to help educators integrate natural resource education within the regular curriculum.
Throughout the five-day event, educators participated in field trips to aquariums, water treatment plants, environmental laboratories and paper mills.
