Christian, 11, is a handsome, charming boy with brown hair, blue eyes and freckles. Creative, artistic and athletic, Christian is described by people who know him as a “great kid” who is fun to be around.
Christian enjoys working on art projects, singing, and athletic activities from in-line skating and riding on a skateboard to soccer, basketball and lacrosse.
In the summer of 2001 he participated in the Beach to Beacon 10K race in the Portland-Cape Elizabeth area. He also has run in other races.
Christian relates well with others and has the ability to form meaningful attachments. He is strongly influenced by peers, and has developed some friendships at his current placement.
Nicknamed “Chris,” he needs a consistent and predictable home environment in a one- or two-parent family where there is an atmosphere of unconditional love and a sense of belonging is provided. His adoptive parents need to hold Christian accountable and to provide clear expectations and consistent follow-through on consequences meted out for certain behaviors if they occur.
He holds teen-age males in great esteem, and an ideal family would be one with older brothers. Chris, however, needs to be the youngest child in the family.
Pets are welcome as Chris has been exposed to several animals at his current placement. His adoptive family needs to be willing to allow Chris to maintain contact with his biological sister who has been adopted by another family.
Subsidy may be available to the most appropriate family. Interested families are asked to contact Cathy Chapman, Department of Human Services, 161 Marginal Way, Portland 04101. The telephone numbers are: (800) 482-7520 or 822-2270.
Another contact is A Family For Me, (877) 505-0545.
