CASTINE – A jazz drummer who traveled to Africa to find the roots of rhythm will present readings at Bah’s Bakehouse on Thursday.

Drummer Stan Levine will read from a diary of his journey and the reading will be accompanied by Ousman Jobarteh, who plays the kora, an instrument from the Gambia region of West Africa. A display of wood sculpture also will be presented.

The reading will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at the bakehouse. Call 326-9366 for details.
