The Maine team playing in the New England Junior Championship at the Agawam Hunt Club in Providence, R.I., hold a 12-stroke lead going into today’s final two rounds of play.

The team is made up of Jesse Speirs and Jeff Bouchard of Bangor, Joe Baker of Oxford, Scott Barnicle of Brunswick and Shaw Warren of Windham. They shot 288 and 290 in the first two rounds for a team total of 578 over the par 70, 3,238 yard course.

Connecticut is in second with a 590 (295-295) total. One stroke back is Vermont at 591 (296-295). New Hampshire is fourth at 593 (294-299) and is followed by Rhode Island with a 595 (295-300) total and Massachusetts at 614 (311-303).
