MADAWASKA – Amy Vaillancourt and Micah Laplante each scored a first-half goal to power Van Buren to a 2-0 victory over Madawaska Monday in schoolgirl soccer action.
Natalie Cormier and Sarah Lajoie each had an assist. Danielle Gagnon made seven saves on 10 shots for the 2-0 Crusaders.
Michelle Lavertu stopped 10 of 17 shots for the 0-1 Owls.
Wisdom 1, Washburn 0
At Washburn, Heidi Deprey’s goal was the difference in the Pioneers’ win over the Beavers.
Cindy Chamberland assisted on the game-winner and Shannon Berube made seven saves on nine shots for 2-0 Wisdom of St. Agatha.
Jamie Abar stopped 11 of 15 shots for 0-3 Washburn.
Boys soccer
Van Buren 2, Madawaska 0
At Madawaska, Mike Corbin put in a first-half goal as the Crusaders topped the Owls.
Luiz Sodre scored Van Buren’s second goal on a penalty kick in the second half. Tyler Hews assisted on Corbin’s goal. Sean Violette stopped five of 11 shots for the 2-0 Crusaders.
Jon Cowie made 12 saves on 19 shots for 0-1-1 Madawaska.
Washburn 5, Wisdom 0
At Washburn, Isaac Carney scored two goals and assisted on two others to lift the Beavers to the win.
Jim Vaughn scored the first goal and assisted on the second. Josh Goupille and Adam Worsley each scored a goal for 2-1 Washburn.
Kenny Corriveau made 16 saves on 34 shots for 1-1 Wisdom of St. Agatha.
