HODGDON – Andrea Blanchette’s goal with three minutes left in regulation proved to be the game-winner as the Hodgdon girls soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over Southern Aroostook Tuesday in high school action.

Blanchette scored off an assist by Jamie Nightingale. Shanna McGary added a first-half goal off an Amanda Fitzpatrick assist. Lindsay Stewart made 15 saves on 19 shots for the 3-0 Hawks, including a save on a penalty kick with 10 seconds left.

Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook’s Oliva McGary put in an unassisted goal with less than a minute to go in the game. Crystal Crandall stopped 15 of 19 shots for the 0-1 Warriors.

Fort Fairfield 3, Central Aroos. 2

At Mars Hill, Brittany Guiou scored two goals, including one unassisted, to help give the Tigers a win in their season opener.

Miranda Butler contributed with a goal and an assist for Fort Fairfield while Dani Searles stopped 11 of 16 shots.

Stevi Fletcher and Brittany Collins each scored a goal for 2-1 Central Aroostook and were both assisted by Gabrielle Smith. Brittany Lundeen made six saves on 16 shots for the Panthers.

Boys soccer

Presque Isle 4, Fort Kent 3

At Presque Isle, the Wildcats put in four unassisted goals to edge the Warriors.

Kyle James, Luke Blackstone, Matt Pelletier and Ben Lynch each scored for 1-0 Presque Isle. Ben Sirois stopped nine of 14 shots.

Ethan Raymond scored twice for 0-1 Fort Kent. James Raymond added a goal and an assist. Jake Ouellette made 14 saves on 20 shots.

So. Aroostook 5, Hodgdon 1

At Hodgdon, Travis Brooker scored two goals for 2-0 Southern Aroostook, both of which were assisted by Corey Shields.

Griffin Hardy, Zac Montgomery and Jared Grant each chipped in with unassisted goals for the Warriors while Jeff Boutilier stopped 15 of 29 shots.

Kevin Carton headed in a pass from Derek Nickerson to score 0-2-1 Hodgdon’s goal while Zach Good made nine saves on 18 shots.

Tigers 8, Warriors 0

At Fort Fairfield, Kris Osgood and Josh Turner each scored two unassisted goals to lead 1-0 Fort Fairfield to the win.

Shea Armstrong and Jake Chambers each added a goal and an assist while Ryan Helstrom scored a goal and Mickey Browning tallied two assists. Matt Oakes chipped in with a goal while Tyler Bernaiche made five saves on nine shots.

John Boyd faced 24 shots and saved 10 in net for 0-3 Central Aroostook.
