Burlock, Caribou edge rival Presque Isle 2-1

PRESQUE ISLE – Lindsay Burlock scored two goals, including the game-winner, as the Caribou girls soccer team downed Presque Isle 2-1 Friday night in high school action.

Burlock connected on a 30-yard shot for the winner five minutes into the second half. The score was assisted by Lauren Harrigan. Leah Drew stopped 13 of 20 shots for 2-0 Caribou.

Katie Delong scored a first-half goal off a Laura Thomas assist for the Wildcats. Melissa DeMerchant and Jessica Price combined to save seven of 10 shots for Presque Isle (0-1).

JV: Presque Isle 3-1

Cent. Aroostook 4, Washburn 0

At Mars Hill, Gabrielle Smith and Samantha Brewer each recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Panthers past the Beavers.

Stevi Fletcher and Angie Brewer, Samantha’s sister, each added a goal for 3-1 Central Aroostook. Brittany Lundeen made five saves on six shots.

Jamie Abar stopped 10 of 18 shots for 0-5 Washburn.

Van Buren 3, Ashland 2

At Van Buren, Tosha Gagnon knocked in the game-winning goal to power the Crusaders past the Hornets.

Amy Vaillancourt assisted on Gagnon’s goal. Micah LaPlante added two goals for 3-0 Van Buren. Sarah Lajoie and Natalie Cormier each tallied an assist. Danielle Gagnon stopped three of five shots.

Ashland’s Jessica Jacques scored less than five minutes into the game on an assist from Caitlyn Sherman. Sherman added a second-half goal with an assist from Angela Beskis. Ashley Nemer made 11 saves on 20 shots for the 1-1 Hornets.

Houlton 3, Madawaska 0

At Madawaska, Anna Lenentine made saves on eight of 19 shots to earn a shutout for the Shiretowners.

Danielle Sewell, Aimee Guy and Claire Thompson each scored a goal for 1-1 Houlton. Alex Goodwin contributed an assist.

Michelle Lavertu stopped five of the 10 shots she faced for the 0-3 Owls.

Van Buren 2, Ashland 0

At Van Buren, Luiz Sodre’s goal with 14 minutes left in the first half proved to be the game-winner as the Crusaders blanked the Hornets.

Tyler Lapierre assisted on Sodre’s goal. Tyler Hews chipped in with a second-half goal on an assist by Andrew Martin. Sean Violette stopped all three Ashland shots for 3-0 Van Buren.

Buck Pineau made 10 saves on 17 shots for the 0-1 Hornets.

Boys soccer

Cent. Aroostook 2, Washburn 2

At Mars Hill, Erik Martinez’ goal with two minutes left in regulation sewed up a tie for the Panthers.

Central Aroostook’s Jeff Clockedile scored the only goal of the first half on a Jon Boyd assist. Adam Crew stopped seven of 12 shots for the 0-3-1 Panthers before leaving the game with a thigh contusion after a collision. Jon Boyd stopped four of five shots in the final seven minutes.

Zach Bird and Josh Goupille each added a second-half goal for the 2-1-1 Beavers. Seth Milton had an assist. Jason Thompson saved eight of 13 shots for Washburn.
