BATH – A man was killed and two children suffered burns in a fire Sunday that gutted a two-story home on North Street.

The dead man was identified at Kevin Monahan, 49. The names of the children were withheld until their families could be notified, said Fire Capt. Lawrence Renaud.

The fire began on the first floor of the single-family home shortly before noon and spread to the rest of the dwelling.

Firefighters from four neighboring communities assisted the Bath department.

The cause of the blaze was not immediately determined. Officials from the State Fire Marshal’s Office were assisting in the investigation.
