Fort Fairfield boys tip Van Buren 1-0

VAN BUREN – Eric Thorquist scored on a pass from Chris Osgood with 3:13 left in the game to lift the Fort Fairfield Tigers by the Van Buren Crusaders 1-0 in schoolboy soccer action Monday.

Tyler Bernaiche made 13 saves on 20 shots for 4-0 Fort Fairfield.

Sean Violette faced six shots and stopped four for 3-1 Van Buren.

Hodgdon 2, Central Aroostook 1

At Hodgdon, Ben Carton scored the Hawks’ first goal on a penalty kick while Kevin Carton followed up 30 seconds later with an unassisted goal that would be the game-winner.

Matt Hanning stopped 10 of 14 shots for 1-3-1 Hodgdon.

Ben Grew scored Central Aroostook’s only goal on a penalty kick and Adam Grew made 10 saves on 18 shots for the 1-4-1 Panthers of Mars Hill.

Madawaska 7, Houlton 0

At Madawaska, Billy Roy scored two goals and added an assist to help carry the 1-2-1 Owls past Houlton.

Miles Morneault also scored two goals for Madawaska while Peter Gerard had a goal and an assist. Michael Arnold and Nathan Lagasse chipped in with a goal apiece and Brian Daigle and Anders Sandquist each tallied an assist. Jon Cowie stopped four of four shots for Madawaska.

Eric O’Connell stopped 15 of 31 shots for 0-3-1 Houlton.

Washburn 3, Limestone 0

At Limestone, Isaac Carney scored three goals to lead the Beavers.

Adam Worsley assisted on the first Carney goal while Seth Milton picked up an assist on the third goal. Jason Thompson stopped two of eight shots for 3-1-2 Washburn.

Jake Manner made 10 saves on 17 shots for 1-1-1 Limestone.

Girls soccer

Cent. Aroostook 4, Hodgdon 1

At Hodgdon, Angie Brewer, Gabrielle Smith, Alicia Boyd and Stevi Fletcher each scored unassisted goals to carry 3-1 Central Aroostook to the win.

Brittany Lundeen made eight saves on 13 shots for the Panthers of Mars Hill.

Jamie Nightingale scored on a pass from Shanna McGary for 3-1 Hodgdon while Lindsay Stewart stopped 11 of 17 shots in net.

Fort Fairfield 2, Van Buren 2

At Van Buren, Maranda Butler scored an unassisted goal and had an assist for 1-1-1 Fort Fairfield in a tie with 3-0-1 Van Buren.

Brittany McLaughlin scored a goal for the Crusaders and Dani Searles stopped 18 of 32 shots.

Erica Hews had an unassisted goal for Van Buren while Micah LaPlante scored on an assist from Melanie Cyr. Danielle Gagnon made two saves on four shots.

Caribou 3, Fort Kent 1

At Caribou, Lindsay Burlock scored an unassisted goal to help lead the Vikings to victory.

Courtney Francis scored with an assist from Simone Willett while Elisha Plourde assisted a goal scored by Lauren Harrigan for the 3-0 Vikings. Leah Drew made 16 saves on 17 shots.

Meaghan Minzy scored Fort Kent’s goal off a pass from Ashley Desjardins and Mindy Morneault stopped 13 of 18 shots for the 1-1 Warriors.

Washburn 2, Limestone 2

At Limestone, Amber Blakney scored two goals for the Beavers, both assisted by Nicole McLaughlin, to tie Limestone.

Jamie Abar made eight saves on nine shots for Washburn.

Ashley Brooker had a goal and an assist for the Eagles. Pearl Ryder added a goal and Kay Porter contributed an assist. Nikki Michaud faced 16 shots and stopped 10 for 1-1-1 Limestone.
