Basic training

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Air National Guard Airman 1st class James W. Hawks Jr. has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training and special training in human relations.

He is the son of Mary Hawks of Bangor and is a 1998 graduate of Bangor High School.

Advanced training

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Army Pvt. Jared P. McReavy has graduated from the light-wheel vehicle mechanic advanced individual training course at Fort Jackson.

McReavy is the son of Helen E. McReavy of Howland and Delbert P. McReavy of Hermon. He is a 2001 graduate of Mattanwcook Academy in Lincoln.

On duty

HOHENFELS, Germany – Army Sgt. 1st Class John E. Winslow Jr. has arrived for duty at the Combat Maneuver Training Center.

He is a 1984 graduate of Hampden Academy and is the son of Paula T. Anderson of Hampden.

Commissions

BREWER – Sandra Wardwell of Brewer has been commissioned as a captain in the U.S. Air Force. She is attending Commissioned Officer Training at Maxwell AFB, Ala., and then will be assigned to Malcolm Grow Medical Center at Andrews AFB, Md.

Mobilized Naval Reservists return

BANGOR – As a result of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, 25 Naval Reservists were mobilized from the Bangor Reserve Center to support Operation “Noble Eagle” or “Enduring Freedom.”

To date, the following personnel have returned from active duty to the Naval Reserve Center: Capt. Rufus Head, Master Chief Petty Officer James E. Ryan Jr., Machinists Mate 1st Class Dean F. Myrick, Chief Joseph Mollo, Petty Officer 1st Class Jeffrey L. Rollins, Petty Officer 3rd Class Scott D. Bouchard, Petty Officer 1st Class Norman J. Cormier, Petty Officer 2nd Class Benjamin Seekins, Petty Officer 2nd Class Kevin Burnham, Petty Officer 2nd Class Stephen J. Burns, Petty Officer 1st Class Angela M. Moser, Petty Officer 1st Class Everett F. Bennett, Petty Officer 2nd Class Robert J. Deviolini, Petty Officer 3rd Class Wayne P. Ranger, Petty Officer 1st Class Kevin A. Alley, Petty Officer 2nd Class Kathleen J. Roope, Petty Officer 1st Class Shannon L. Ackley, Petty Officer 2nd Class David T. Cyr, Chief Carol A. Jankowski, Petty Officer 2nd Class Tammy E. Webb and Seaman Della J. Parker.

Promotions

New Naval Reservists

BANGOR – Signing up with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 27, SeaBee’s, are: Petty Officer 1st Class Michael Vanadestine of Howland, Petty Officer 2nd Class Richard R. Duhaime of Jonesport, Petty Officer 2nd Class John P. Prieto of Brewer and Petty Officer 3rd Class Shawn C. Haley of Ashland.

Signing up with Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station are: Petty Officer 2nd Class Norman E. Denbow of Caribou, Petty Officer 1st Class William C. Desjardins of Westfield, Petty Officer 2nd Class Brian L. Dort of Levant, Chief Erik L. Dow of Plymouth, Seaman Divina D. Reil of Bangor, Petty Officer 1st Class Michael A. Stetson of Mars Hill and Petty Officer 2nd Class Shawn D. Theriault of Fort Kent.
