Bruce Oakes scores three to help lead Ashland past Wisdom

ST. AGATHA – Bruce Oakes scored three goals as the Ashland posted a 6-0 schoolboy soccer win over Wisdom on Thursday.

Brock Bessey scored on a penalty kick and added an assist for 1-1 Ashland. Jesse Good also had an assist, and Kenny Lewin and Alan O’Clair added a goal each. Buck Pineau stopped all four shots he faced.

Kenny Corriveau made 19 saves on 30 shots for the 0-5 Pioneers.

Presque Isle 5, Houlton 0

At Houlton, Kyle James scored two goals and dished out two assists as the Wildcats blanked Houlton.

Pat Pelletier, Trevor Graves and Austin Coffin added a goal each for 2-0 Presque Isle. Nick Robertson contributed an assist. Ben Sirois stopped the only shot he faced.

Eric O’Connell made 17 saves on 22 shots for the 0-3-1 Shiretowners.

Girls soccer

Wisdom 2, Ashland 1

At St. Agatha, Cindy Chamberland knocked in a goal and dished out an assist as the unbeaten Pioneers edged the Hornets.

Anna Ouellette added a goal and Kristen Marquis had an assist for 5-0 Wisdom. Heidi Deprey and Shannon Berube combined to stop 14 of 20 shots.

Beth Chamberlain scored on a penalty kick for 0-2 Ashland. Ashley Nemer made 14 saves on 16 shots.
