BANGOR – Secretary of State Dan A. Gwadosky will hold a Vote in Honor of a Veteran kickoff event at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the World War II Memorial, Cole Land Transportation Museum, 405 Perry Road.

Those participating in the event include the Bangor High School Junior ROTC, along with veterans from branches of the armed services.

The program, introduced during the 2000 election, seeks to highlight the connection between those who have served our country in the armed forces and our right to vote. Voters are encouraged to request a button personalized with the name of a veteran they are honoring and wear it to the polls on Election Day.

Buttons obtained for the 2000 elections may be worn again for the Nov. 5 elections.

Voters may request a personalized button online at www.maine.gov/sos/veterans/, or request an order form by calling 626-8406.
