A class action suit was filed in 1996 in Pensacola, Fla., by retirees William Schism and Robert Reinhie who sought reimbursement of money withheld from their pay for Medicare and for future Medicare deductions. They welcomed attorney at law, Medal of Honor winner Col. George E. (Bud) Day.

This suit is filed by retired veterans of World War II and Korea who entered military service before June 7, 1956 and must be honorably retired with 20 or more years of service, 65 years of age and currently on Medicare and are or have paid for Part B coverage. Widows can file on behalf of the deceased if they meet the requirements at the time of death. This case was won.
